In 2025, artists Ed Trask and Matt Lively were painting a mural on the Bakery Building at 18th and Grace Street in Richmond, using a 700-square-foot storefront on the property to store their supplies. It was there that Ed saw something more, a bright, welcoming gallery space waiting to happen. The building’s developer shared that vision and transformed the storefront into a beautiful exhibition space.
With Heide Trepanier on board as Executive Director, the three founders shaped the concept into a nonprofit with a genuine desire to support artists and the wider creative community. The gallery offers small-scale classes spanning the arts and humanities, with student work celebrated through exhibitions alongside shows featuring professional artists who are underrepresented in the region.
All three artists remain active participants, exhibiting their own work in the space and donating a significant percentage of their sales back to help sustain the gallery and support the artists and students it serves.
